My father is the master of his craft.

The sound of cutting metal echoed endlessly in my ears. Peering into the factory filled with machinery and equipment, I could always see a familiar figure from behind. That was Mr. Shanxing — father of Takano, the head of DG TAKANO Co., Ltd. Today, he is a key member of the manufacturing team at DG TAKANO, passing down his expertise in machining and metal cutting. But before DG TAKANO was founded, he dedicated his craft to Takano Seikosha, a company specializing in gas valve manufacturing—an industry leader in Japan, with a legacy spanning generations.

"I took over Takano Seikosha when I was just 22 or 23 years old. Back then, I used a lathe to make parts, much like crafting a traditional puppet. Holding the metal tube steady, I would alternate my left and right foot on the pedal, chipping away at the metal by hand," he recalls. Today, technology has advanced—precision is now controlled by computers and programming languages, enabling machines to manufacture complex products with extreme accuracy. But in the early days of his career, electronic tools were nonexistent; gas valves were crafted entirely by hand.

Gas valves require absolute precision—even a microscopic 2-micron error could cause gas leakage and lead to a catastrophic explosion. Unlike other metal components, gas valve manufacturing demands an exceptional level of craftsmanship and expertise.

"There used to be many companies making gas valves, but one by one, they shut down. The risk of a gas leak and explosion scared people away. When I inherited the company, I was still young and inexperienced—I struggled to make quality products. Valves leaked, and even when we had orders, we couldn’t deliver to customers."

Despite these challenges, he dedicated himself fully to the craft, perfecting the leak-proof gas valve. With relentless focus and determination, his efforts paid off—customers recognized the superior quality of his work. The name "Mr. Takano’s Gas Valve" gained a reputation, attracting loyal customers and an increasing demand.

In a short time, Takano Seikosha’s market share skyrocketed, and before long, more than half of all gas valves used in Japan were manufactured by the company. With a large customer base in Kuwano, Mie Prefecture, Mr. Shanxing often traveled from Higashi Osaka to Kuwano for promotions and payment collection. One day, a customer casually remarked, "90% of the gas valves in Kuwano come from Takano Seikosha."

It was in that moment he realized the true impact of his craftsmanship—his gas valves weren’t just a product; they were the foundation of an entire industry.
